Conventional & Addressable Fire Alarm Systems

Conventional Fire Alarms
A conventional fire alarm divides your building into zones, with each zone containing its own detectors and call points. When a device is triggered, the control panel identifies which zone the activation came from, helping users quickly locate the source of the alert. This system is ideal for small to medium-sized premises where simplicity and reliability are key.
Addressable Fire Alarms
Addressable systems take fire detection to the next level. Each device on the network — whether a detector or call point — has its own unique address, allowing the control panel to identify the exact location of any alarm or fault instantly. The system continuously monitors all connected devices, providing precise information about performance and early signs of smoke or heat. This makes it the preferred choice for larger or more complex sites.
Category P – Property Protection Systems
Category P fire alarm systems are designed specifically to protect property and reduce damage from fire. There are two main types:
- P1 Systems: Provide complete coverage across the entire building, ensuring early detection anywhere on the premises.
- P2 Systems: Focus protection on selected high-risk or critical areas of the building.
Both systems are engineered to alert fire services at the earliest possible stage, reducing the risk of major damage or business interruption.
Life Protection Systems (Categories L1–L5)
Life protection systems are designed to safeguard people by ensuring fires are detected quickly and evacuation can take place safely.
- L1: Automatic Fire Detection (AFD) throughout the entire building.
- L2: AFD as in L3, plus additional detection in high-risk areas (e.g. kitchens, boiler rooms).
- L3: Smoke detection in escape routes and adjacent rooms that open onto them.
- L4: AFD limited to escape routes only.
- L5: Custom systems designed for buildings with specific or unusual fire risks.
