Emergency Lighting

Compliant installs and scheduled testing, so escape routes stay lit the one time it actually matters.

Emergency lighting is one of those systems nobody thinks about until the power goes — and by then it's too late to find out it wasn't working. Owlsight Fire & Security Ltd installs and maintains emergency lighting to BS 5266, covering escape routes, open areas and high-risk task areas.

We also handle the routine testing that's easy to let slip: monthly function checks and the annual full duration test, logged properly so you've got the paperwork if you're ever asked for it.

  • Free site survey against BS 5266 requirements
  • Escape route and open-area luminaire installation
  • Self-testing and manual system options
  • Monthly and annual compliance testing
  • Battery replacement and fault repairs
  • Full test logs for your fire risk assessment

Why choose us for emergency lighting.

Compliance you can prove

Every test is logged, so you've got evidence ready if an assessor or insurer asks.

No guesswork on layout

Luminaire positions are calculated against your escape routes, not just placed above doors.

Fits round your business

Testing scheduled to suit your operating hours, not the other way round.

Emergency Lighting FAQs

How often does emergency lighting need testing?

A brief function test monthly, and a full three-hour duration test annually, per BS 5266. We can run this on a scheduled visit so you don't have to track it yourself.

What happens during a full duration test?

The system runs on battery power for its full rated duration to confirm every luminaire performs when mains power actually fails — we handle this outside your operating hours where possible.

Do I need emergency lighting in a small office?

Most workplaces need some level of emergency lighting under fire safety law — we'll confirm exactly what's required for your building during a free survey.
